Body Armor

For as long as mankind has existed, life involved many things and sadly, one of the most threatened elements about it was people's own safety. During medieval times, soldiers and warriors wore metal armor to protect themselves in battle. Even before those times, ancient peoples had to cover their bodies in the best protective materials they could find. They perhaps did not need them for war, though, they probably did have some altercations involving physical disputes, but they also needed body protection while they were out hunting.
Later, when more damaging ammunition and weapons were invented such as bullets, cannons and guns, metal body armor was no longer effective as the projectiles from the weapons were powerful enough to penetrate the metallic armor. To have a better chance of survival, the bullet resistant armor like a bullet proof vest was invented. In this case, it was no longer made of metal, since that was deemed ineffective. It was, in fact, a soft body armor that wasn't made of metal but rather, other materials like a very sophisticated form of liquid and other materials that are part of the protective clothing. The most common body armor is made out of woven fibers sewn meticulously intertwined and directly into vests and other soft clothing. Cumbersome metallic body armor was a thing of the past and more modern and comfortable forms of body armor protection are now currently in use, protecting the body from the dangerous elements of life. |
